Report on Mother Agnes-Mariam Visit

I am pleased to report that the Mother Agnes-Mariam talk in Hamilton went extraordinarily well. The beautiful sanctuary at Centenary United Church was filled with 115 people who gave Mother Agnes-Mariam of Syria a standing ovation after she delivered her message of peace and national reconciliation and answered every one of the written questions posed to her.

The ticket sales and collection raised more than enough money to cover the local costs of the event, plus Hamilton’s share of the North American tour, and also raised some funds for the visit of Mother Agnes-Mariam to Washington, DC.

Mother Agnes-Mariam was pleased to sit for an exclusive interview with, and to pose for a photograph for, the Hamilton Spectator though they have yet to be published.

She asked for our cooperation in setting up a local committee to support the national reconciliation process in Syria, which we agreed to do.

Only one pro-“rebel” demonstrator appeared at the front doors of the church handing out leaflets denouncing Mother Agnes. We invited him in to hear the talk (free) and arranged to have Mother Agnes answer his written question first, which she did.

Many “Hands off Syria” buttons were sold. All in all, a splendid start to MAM’s Canadian tour!
