Description (29 minutes):
Phil interviews Zafar Bangash about the Saudi-U.S. war in Yemen and the latest move by outgoing U.S. Secretary-of-State Pompeo to designate the Ansrallah Movement, which represents the majority Houthi resistance movement, as a terrorist organization. The billions of dollars worth of arms sold to Saudi Arabia by Western countries, such as Canada, have failed to subdue the Yemeni people.
Notably, Twitter has censored the accounts of the Ansarallah, but failed to silence the movement.
Bangash is cautious about the possibility of Biden changing anything, partly because the U.S.A. gave the green light to Saudi Arabia to launch the war in 2014 while Biden was the VP.
While Biden has previewed his intentions to rejoin the JCPOA, the Iranian government, which has no intention to develop a nuclear weapon, isn’t likely to negotiate with any country its defense capability.
Iranian presidential elections are due in June 2021 and the U.S.A. is likely to meddle in them.
